When considering keratin
Individual strands may be relevant if you want tailored placement and colors in particular areas. At Elska, we discuss your hair and goals and agree on a plan for fitting, care and later correction.
Wefts hold hair in rows, while keratin extensions are fitted strand by strand. Your choice depends on your natural hair, the result you want and the upkeep that fits your everyday life. At Elska, we work with micro and nano keratin extensions.
A weft is a band of extension hair. Constructions include hand-tied, machine-sewn and fine, flat variants. Wefts can be sewn onto a beaded foundation or onto braids in your natural hair. Here we compare both attachment methods with our keratin method; maintenance depends on the specific system.
At Elska, we use hot fusion: extension hair is attached strand by strand to your natural hair with small bonds we handcraft from high-quality Italian keratin. You may also see this type of extension described as K-tip.
Micro and nano describe the size of our keratin bonds. Nano keratin is different from nano ring extensions, which use small rings. Both hair weight and placement require an individual assessment.
Explore the method| What to consider | Keratin at Elska | Weft on beads or braids |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Individual keratin bonds are shaped with a heated tool around sections of your natural hair. | Wefts are sewn onto rows of small beads or onto braids in your natural hair. The foundation, placement and hair weight are tailored to you. |
| Placement and fullness | Individual strands let us tailor the weight, colors and distribution in specific areas. | Hair is distributed in rows. Weft construction, row count and placement influence the result. |
| Maintenance | Keratin bonds typically last 3–4 months with proper care. Your maintenance appointment depends on your hair and its growth and is agreed with us. Correction involves removing the bonds, preparing the hair and reapplying it. | Maintenance depends on whether the foundation uses beads or braids and on your hair growth. Ask for a plan for the specific system, including any full refitting. |
| Reuse | With appropriate care, the extension hair can be reused for up to 1.5 years. Its condition is assessed at each correction appointment; this period is not a guarantee for every client. | Reuse depends on hair quality, condition, care and the instructions for the specific system. |
| Time in the salon | Times depend on hair weight and are listed for each service. Bond preparation before your appointment is separate. | Ask how long initial fitting, routine maintenance and a full refitting take. These appointments may differ considerably. |
| Price | Extensions including hair cover hair, bond preparation, application, a blending cut and styling. Correction and options have separate prices. | Check whether the quote includes the hair, application, blending cut, styling and removal. |
| Care and suitability | Daily care and professional maintenance are part of the process. We assess your hair, weight and placement individually. | Home care and an assessment of your natural hair are necessary. Discuss styling, comfort and upkeep before choosing a system. |

Wefts may be relevant if you want fullness distributed in rows and prefer a maintenance plan built around those rows. Discuss your hair and reuse options with a salon that offers the specific weft system.
No method automatically suits everyone. Your natural hair's density and condition, preferred hairstyles and the care you can follow all matter. Choosing a particular method does not guarantee comfort or a damage-free result.
Read the aftercare guideKeratin is not necessarily cheaper than weft. Compare hair, application, maintenance and removal for the same intended result. Fewer visits do not automatically mean a lower price or fewer hours in the salon. At Elska, you receive an individual assessment for micro and nano keratin extensions.
These prices are for 100 g. Initial application includes new 50–55 cm hair. Correction is a later appointment using hair assessed as suitable for reuse.
These are prices for two separate services, not a total annual plan or a weft quote. If you are unsure about hair weight, options or maintenance, a consultation can help you choose.
At Elska, you can book micro and nano keratin extensions. If you are considering wefts, our online consultation can help you assess whether keratin is a relevant alternative for the result you want.
That depends on the specific hair and system. Some keratin systems are designed for a single installation. At Elska, we assess the hair at correction before considering reuse. Ask for the same clarification with a weft quote.
Not necessarily. Home care still matters, and a longer interval may be followed by a longer removal and refitting appointment. Compare visits, appointment time and your daily routine.
